Little Mix star Leigh-Anne Pinnock is excited to be hosting the upcoming 2021 MOBO Awards – but admits she is nervous about her new role in front of the cameras.

The 30-year-old chart topping star – who recently became a first time mum of twins – is stepping up her presenting skills amid speculation her band are about to split.

It is possible Leigh-Anne is planning to turn her hand at more presenting instead of making money through music – with the MOBO awards an exciting new job for the star.

The singer will be helming the 2021 awards alongside comedian Munya Chawawa – with the pair introducing live performances and helping huge stars celebrate their wins.

Celebrating their announcement as hosts, Munya, 28, said: “It’s going to be exciting. I am going to be puffing that inhaler all night long because I get really wheezy when I get excited.”

He continued: “We’ve got big performances, magical moments, I’m going to be performing my debut single, See Nobody. Was that me? Or was that Wes?”

Leigh-Anne then confirmed: “That’s definitely Wes Nelson.”

Munya then said: “It’s going to be a whole lot of fun.”

Admitting her own excitement, but also confessing a degree of anxiety, Leigh-Anne said: “I can’t wait! I’m super nervous, but it’s going to be great.”

She then ordered fans: “Make sure you tune in. December 5th at 8pm – live on YouTube.”

She added: “Don’t miss it guys! It’s going to be amazing.”

Grime pioneer Ghetts, Gambian-British rapper Pa Salieu and singer-rapper Bree Runway, all of whom are nominated for awards, will perform at the MOBOs.

Leigh-Anne’s new job will only add fuel to rumours that she is going to split from bandmates Perrie Edwards and Jade Thirlwall – and the end of Little Mix.

Last month it was claimed the band are planning to announce their split following their toxic fallout with ex-bandmate Jesy Nelson, who quit the group in December last year.

A source said at the time: “There has been a lot of speculation about the future of Little Mix but it is now very clear that the end of the road has been reached.

“A date is set to announce the split. The upcoming tour is going to be a farewell to their fans.”

News of the possible split came after negative headlines surrounded Jesy who has been battling accusations that the music video of her debut solo single, Boyz, amounted to cultural appropriation.

The video was intended of being an homage to the early naughties music videos of rap and RnB singers – but many music fans have accused the singer of attempting to appropriate black culture and history for her own gain.

Leigh-Anne found herself embroiled in the furore after a TikTok user named NoHun claimed she had sent a direct message to him urging him to “do a video about [Jesy] being a blackfish”.

Jesy herself has attempted to dismiss claims she had utilised black culture to promote her own music.
