New Delhi: The Central government on Friday announced that the country is effectively controlling the outbreak of bird flu and directed the state governments to allow the selling of poultry and poultry products from areas/states free of bird flu.
In an official release, the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying stated, "The country has been effectively controlling the disease. It was reiterated that the virus gets destroyed easily at 70 degrees Centigrade and therefore, properly cooked poultry and poultry products are safe for human consumption."
The ministry also said that states have been requested to instruct the authorities concerned not to impose a ban and allow the sale of poultry and poultry products sourced from flu-free areas/states.
