Hezbollah says Israeli army attacked town of Hanin in southern Lebanon.

Sirens have been activated in northern Israel on Friday amid fears of a possible attack from the Lebanese Hezbollah group, Israeli media reported.

"Sirens sound on the border with Lebanon after a 48-hour lull," according to the daily Yedioth Ahronoth reported.

Hezbollah said that the Israeli army attacked the town of Hanin in southern Lebanon.

No further details were provided by either side.

Tension has flared along the border between Lebanon and Israel amid intermittent exchange of fire between Israeli forces and Hezbollah, in the deadliest clashes since the two sides fought a full-scale war in 2006.

The border tension comes amid an Israeli military offensive in the Gaza Strip that killed more than 33,600 people following a Hamas attack on Oct. 7.
