Air defense systems downed 12 Ukrainian missiles, claims Russian Defense Ministry.

Russia said Sunday that a Ukrainian missile strike on an apartment building in the city of Belgorod left 17 people injured.

"17 of the wounded have now been sent to medical institutions," state news agency RIA reported citing Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko.

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Commenting on the attack, Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Volodin said on Telegram that the building's entrance from the 10th to the first floor collapsed.

Russia's Emergency Situations Ministry said 12 people have been saved from the rubble, including two children, during search and rescue operations.

Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry claimed that it downed 12 Ukrainian missiles over Belgorod, adding that fragments of one of the downed missiles struck the residential building.​​​​​​​

Ukrainian authorities have not yet commented on the attack. -
